While the Connector Tool is great for keeping lines attached when moving objects, its current behavior and limitations make it very frustrating to use for diagrams and flowcharts. I would like to report three major pain points:
1. Cannot switch connector types after creation Once a connector is drawn, you cannot select it and switch to a different style (Straight, Right-Angle, or Rounded Right-Angle) via the Property Bar. If we want to change the layout style, we are forced to delete the connector and redraw it from scratch.
2. Right-angle connectors lose their shape during node adjustment When trying to manually adjust the bending position of a Right-Angle connector, the path often breaks. It often deletes necessary nodes and collapses into a straight line instead of maintaining its right angles.
3. No option for object offset/spacing (See attached images) Currently, the connector attaches directly to the object’s outline with zero clearance (as seen in my 1st image). There is no feature to adjust the offset distance to create clean spacing between the object and the line (as shown in my 2nd image). Even basic office software like Microsoft PowerPoint allows users to adjust this margin while keeping the connection intact.
The core logic of the connector is there, but these path-control bugs and lack of styling flexibility really hold it back. Fixing these issues would make CorelDRAW vastly better for professional diagramming.
